Riding in Epping Forest

The summer can be a fantastic time for riding in Epping Forest if you live in Chigwell, Loughton or Woodford. If you have your own horse you will have been riding all year but if you are looking to find out more about how to ride a horse there are lots of opportunities to learn.

One riding school within easy reach of Chigwell, Loughton and Woodford is the High Beech Riding School. It first opened to the public way back in 1970. They say their aim in 2018 is the same as it was back in the day when they opened. That is - “to teach you to ride, or improve your riding in a friendly atmosphere and pleasant surroundings.”

Right in the centre of Epping Forest, Essex sits High Beech Riding School in High Beech village. They are a horse riding centre who are proud to cater for all riders, from teaching the absolute beginner or novice in their indoor school to working with experienced riders who are looking to improve their technique. From their fantastic location right in the heart of Epping Forest, Essex, which gives Chigwell, Loughton or Woodford riders over 6000 acres of woodland to explore, they offer escorted forest rides or hacks.

Hacking is actually an old English term for riding a horse for pleasure. Taking a ride in Epping Forest perfectly describes a hack. All the staff at the riding centre have an extensive knowledge of the forest and know a whole host of different routes or various lengths to suit all riders’ levels and requirements. But if you want to go on a hack in Epping Forest with HBRS will need to ride an assessment lesson with one of our qualified instructors.

They have over 30 horses and invite anyone wanting to find out more about riding in Chigwell, Loughton or Woodford to go and see them and check out the facilities to find out more.
