On leaving Chigwell School, all pupils automatically become members of the Old Chigwellians’ Association. For many people moving home to Chigwell, Loughton or Woodford is driven by the quality of local schools, and there are plenty to chose from.
The Old Chigwellians’ Association has two main objectives; one is to keep all those who have attended the Chigwell School in touch with each other and to keep them in touch with the school. Many OCs attend social and sports events at the OC Clubhouse, school and support current pupils with work experience or through attending the annual careers convention.
The Development Office maintains a comprehensive database of Old Chigwellians and works to keep them in touch with the school and each other by organising events and producing publications. All information held by the Development Office is only available to the school for non-commercial purposes in line with data protection requirements.
One such event on the OC’s calendar is coming up on Sunday 14th October 2018. It is the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon for Cancer Research UK Marathon. Perhaps you are already running for the OC? If you are not running but might want to come out and support the old Chigwellians’ you can easily get to central London from Chigwell, Loughton or Woodford. The route starts and finishes in Hyde Park and takes in many of the spectacular sites of London town.
This is one of the most over-subscribed Half Marathon in the country so if you didn’t book your places early you will be supporting the event but there is nothing stopping you joining another Team Chigwell charity running event later in the year.
In addition to events organising the Development Office works to raise funds for Chigwell School. These funds are used to enhance facilities to ensure that Chigwell School maintains its tradition of excellence.
