Moving to Chigwell, Loughton or Woodford is bound to give you more outside space. For inspiration about gardens in and around Chigwell the National Garden Scheme is worth looking up. On Sunday 30th June and Sunday 28th July the lovely Turpins Lane garden is open - Open Garden -37 Turpins Lane, Chigwell, Essex IG8 8AZ. Admission £4, Children free. Times:11:00 to 18:00. Visiting the Chigwell garden will reveal an unexpected hidden, magical, part-walled garden showing how much can be achieved in a small space. “An oasis of calm with densely planted rich, lush foliage, tree ferns, hostas, topiary and an abundance of well-maintained shrubs complemented by a small pond and 3 water features designed for all year round interest.
The National Garden Scheme gives visitors unique access to over 3,500 exceptional private gardens in England and Wales, and raises impressive amounts of money for nursing and health charities through admissions, teas and cake.Other local to Chigwell, Loughton and Woodford NGS gardens include, 16 Maida Way, Chingford, Essex E4 7JL. There are three distinct areas to the garden that are a real inspiration the walled patio with raised beds of ferns, climbers, hostas and planters. Then there are steps up to middle garden with a large koi pond, seating area, with acers, shrubs, herbaceous plants, grasses and grapevine. Numerous retro artefacts have been creatively upcycled. The third area is a kitchen garden with raised beds of fruit trees and bushes, herbs and vegetables. They are open on Saturday 6th July (4-9). Admission £7.50, Children are free. Entrance includes a glass of wine and a selection of nibbles.
