Pumpkin event with purpose in Woodford

This time of year it is hard to get through without the odd pumpkin of two in your sights but what better way to enjoy Halloween than by also doing some good?  On Sunday 29th October 2017.

Between 11:00am and 5:00pm with 2 starting times at 11am or 2.30pm. Haven House Children's Hospice in Woodford Green are running their Pumpkin Plod event and it promises to be even bigger and better than 2016!
The grumpy Pumpkin King has taken control of the forest say Haven House Hospice and you and your family can come along to help cheer him up.  All you have to do is complete a family fun walk. There are two walks that start and finishing at Haven House Children’s Hospice.  There is a 5k Halloween themed route through Epping Forest or a 2k route option available on Haven House grounds.  The shorter route is recommended for children under 2 and for wheelchair/pushchairs.
If you want to enjoy a 5k pumpkin plod through the Forest you can complete challenges along the way to help create the witch’s potion that will make the Pumpkin King smile. This year the fancy dress theme is Pumpkins and Bats so if orange is your colour go for it or if you or your young ones prefer wings it is the perfect opportunity to embrace your inner Batman.
Haven House Children’s Hospice are asking participants to aim to raise £50 per family in sponsorship. Ticket prices are £5 for under 12s £10 for an Adult or £25 for a Family of four.  The entry fee includes pumpkin, activity sheet and sweet treats but the registration fee only covers the cost of running the event they rely on sponsorship to help support their vital work.
