London markets

If you like to get out and about for a bit of Christmas shopping, living so close to London is the best. London also has a host of old fashioned markets and just a stone’s throw from Chigwell, Loughton and Woodford is the long standing Romford market.

Romford Market has literally everything you could ever hope to find in a street market. It has more than 150 long standing market traders pitching out their market stalls every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday whatever the weather. In the run up to Christmas, Romford Market is extra busy and opens every day including Sunday.

The historical Romford Market was granted a charter by King Henry III, nearly 800 years ago in 1247. It was originally established as a sheep market but has become on one of the largest street markets in the South East.  The over 150 regular stalls offer a diverse range of goods including fresh meat and fish, veg and fruit, some of the latest street fashions, all kinds of mobile phone accessories, toys and games and plenty of other household goods to name just a few!

The market also has a great choice of tea and hot food stalls catering for all tastes, most providing seating areas to rest your weary feet! As well as the market stalls, you will also find shopping arcades and malls, cafes, bakeries, pubs and restaurants as the shops running the whole length of the Market, including the recently revamped Romford Shopping Hall with over 40 high quality retail units and the popular Liberty Shopping Centre with over 100 well known shops.
