If this year is the year you are going to leave the big smoke then location Chigwell may be for you. The village of Chigwell sits within the Greater London Urban Area, around 12 miles east of the City. It is part of the 'Essex Golden Triangle,' as is Loughton and Woodford where they have managed to keep a largely rural feel, without the grey concrete regularity of suburbia that afflicts some outer areas of Greater London.
Chigwell was once a rural farming location and is currently along with Loughton and Woodford one of the most sought after addresses in this part of the world. It has plenty of tree-lined streets, with properties that are graced with plenty of garden space. Chigwell really does still have a village atmosphere centred on the High Road. There Chigwell residents can access a wealth of local amenities from boutiques and coffee shops through to high-end restaurants and sports clubs. Brook Parade serves as Chigwell's shopping centre featuring designer boutiques, health food shops and hair salons alongside more traditional high-street stores.
Chigwell as a location as well as Loughton and Woodford have grown and grown in popularity due to their proximity to London. Chigwell delivers on public transport with Chigwell and Grange Hill stations both on the Central line (zone 4) providing a speedy service into central London. Not far from Chigwell, Buckhurst Hill, Woodford, Loughton and Hainault stations also offer quick connections and short journey times into town. The area is also well served by London bus routes and has a number of options for those who prefer to drive as it is close to both the M11 and M25, as well as the A12 and A406 North Circular.
Location Chigwell has all the benefits of easy access to London and nature. Despite its transport links it is right next to Epping Forest London's largest open space but is also close to the open fields of Hainault Forest Country Park and Roding Valley Meadows Nature Reserve, which is a haven for wildlife and wildflowers.
