For a night out around Chigwell, Loughton or Woodford there are plenty of good pubs to enjoy. Some have events like the Comedy Night at the Woodbine Inn on Friday 29th November. Hailed as Epping Forests finest Comedy Night you can sit down and enjoy a great night of comedy, and some of the finest local Ales, Beer, Ciders and Gins. The comedy night is the very last Friday of the month.
Then there is Ye Olde Kings Head in Chigwell for a regular night out in a lovely friendly atmosphere. Reviews say they are “reasonably priced with good food and staff that are willing to help you with your every need.” In the winter - open fires and mulled wine are on offer. Dickens wrote Barnaby Rudge here so they say and the pub and Chigwell feature in the book. There is also a function room upstairs which is of a good size and again reasonably priced, it comes with its own bar and is perfect for a wedding reception or birthday party or a Christmas or New Year event.
Don’t forget The Victoria Tavern in Loughton if you are looking for a meal and ale. It is a quaint pub to be found on the very edge of the forest, with all the essentials when it comes to beer. Punters say it “Feels old and established inside which is welcome on a cold winters evening, and has a terrific steak pie - probably the best pie I've ever eaten in my life.” “Definitely worth grabbing a pint or three.” Says another, “I have been going to this pub for many years, the food is excellent. The fish and chips are I believe the best dish of all. The pub is very clean and welcoming; you can take your dog inside if it’s well behaved.”
It doesn't have five-stars for nothing, however, because it's so popular it's often very busy. But there are many more great pubs in the Chigwell, Loughton and Woodford area to choose from.
