Having a go in the saddle

Having a go at getting in the saddle close to Chigwell, Loughton or Woodford is easy. There are lots of places to learn how to handle a horse and just as many places to get a ride. If you are looking to get your children in the saddle from an early age BHS approved Aldborough Hall Equestrian Centre offers a variety of well-mannered mounts for a range of lessons.

Aldborough Hall Equestrian Centre holds lessons for young Children from four to eight years and for older children aged nine to twelve. For teenagers, there are also lessons for thirteen to eighteen-year-olds. The wide variety of Children's Lessons are held on Saturday and Sunday weekly to cater for all levels of ability, you just need to check which level is at which time.

The centres offer this range of friendly and supportive lessons to encourage confidence and independence. At the same time, they are teaching the basic principles of horsemanship. It's a great way to get your children in the saddle early.  Quality lessons will give them good grounding should they wish to go hacking elsewhere in the local Essex countryside with you.

The Centre has an Indoor Riding School measuring an impressive 60 x 24 metres and an Outdoor Arena coming in at 100 x 50 metres. It also has an Outdoor Manege of 40 x 20 Metres and a range of Cross Country Fences and Shows Jumps too. For more experienced riders there's loads of opportunity to challenge themselves to find new skills.

During the school holidays, Aldborough Hall has its own Pony Club which runs events and offers kids the chance to really get to know their pony. Regular attendees often go on to enjoy competition both in Pony club and other events. They even run British Horse Society Training and Examinations. So if you are keen to get your Chigwell, Loughton or Woodford kids to have a go in the saddle it could be for you.
