You may well have already got rid of all those metro tiles that were so popular in your Chigwell, Loughton or Woodford kitchens and bathrooms not long ago? If not you might need to give it your attention! This season it is clear that geometrics and more intricate designs have arrived and are here to stay.

Squares and rectangles, say many designers, are a thing of the past, but mosaics are back on trend this Autumn and Winter and delightfully they come in a vast array of shapes, colours and sizes.  Many of the beautiful geometric tiles are not only on trend they are enormously versatile too, they can work in both modern and traditional settings.

Brand Ambassador for Fired Earth Laura James, explains: 'They can be as subtle or as statement-making as you want them to be; even the simplest white tiles can be used to create eye-catching effects such as herringbone or basketweave designs. Despite being on-trend, styles like these won't date since they also have a timeless appeal.'

Alongside the array of geometrics says Claire Roberts, Designer at Marks & Spencer the other big trend is monochrome. 'Monochrome is certainly the strongest trend coming through for us this season, and we've developed some striking new prints for the Autumn/Winter season with bold stripes and eye-catching geometrics,' This is a bold look but accents of copper will add warmth and use white to create a balance say the designers and choose accessories in black and white for a decorative appeal.
