Chigwell Riding Trust was the first riding centre for people with special needs in the world. It has been in Chigwell for over fifty years offering riding instruction to people of all ages and abilities. The riding centre has approximately 160 riders each week. As one of the leading specialised riding centres in the UK Chigwell Riding Trust not only benefits people with special needs but also the entire community. It gives opportunities for volunteering, school participation and practical experience for children and adults to work with people and animals.
It sometimes takes one person to lead the pony and one person either side to assist the riders, so the Trust could not function without voluntary help. If you want to help you don’t need knowledge of horses the staff will show you just what to do. All that is required is a willingness to help.
