Woodford Pantomime

A local pantomime is all part of the Christmas fun in Woodford, Chigwell or Loughton and Rapunzel is proud to present Woodfords 59th Annual pantomime. It promises to be a fun-filled festive entertainment for all the family at Sir James Hawkey Hall, Broomhill Road, Woodford Green IG8 0BG, Essex, England. Performances start on 1st January 2020 and run until the 12th of January 2020.

Rapunzel was originally a Grimm's Fairy Tale about a man and a woman who always wished for a child, but could not have one. At the back of their house, they could see a splendid garden full of the most beautiful flowers and herbs. It was, however, surrounded by a high wall, and no one dared to go into it because it belonged to a witch, who had great power and was feared by all the world. 

One day the woman was standing by the window and looking down into the garden when she saw a bed which was planted with the tastiest Rapunzel ( a herb). It looked so fresh and green that she longed for it and had the greatest desire to eat some. ……her husband sneaks in and steals some but is eventually caught by the witch who makes him promise to hand over the child his wife will have. The man in his fear consented and when the baby was born the witch appeared at once, gave the child the name of Rapunzel and took the baby away with her……

The story unfolds at the Sir James Hawkey Hall on Broomhill Road in Woodford Green, a short distance from Woodford High Road, built-in 1955 it has a seating capacity of 400 and is an ideal venue staged events, large conferences and community group bookings it can also be booked for wedding receptions, pre-wedding parties, social events, birthdays/anniversaries.
