The eighth 9 day Woodford Festival will take place from Saturday 6th October until Sunday 14th October 2018, throughout the greater Woodford and South Woodford areas. If you are new to this popular part of Essex or are looking to buy property in Woodford, Loughton or Chigwell it really is a wonderful community event. There are some 70 events in 35 different locations all over Woodford and South Woodford.
The Festival comprises of days and evenings with a selection of live music, art, poetry, walks, talks, drama, dance, arts & crafts events, concerts, film, theatre, quiz nights, beer festivals, Fire Station open days and much more. Leaflets with more details will have been available from late September at Woodford library, local churches, and pubs, Waitrose, Sainsbury's and participating venues in the local Woodford & South Woodford.
Look out for the Launch Day Events on Saturday 6th October at Sir James Hawkey Hall from 11 am to 10:30 pm. After the official opening of the Festival at St Mary’s Church High Road South Woodford, there is a day packed full of diverse cultural activities that will offer fun and interest to young and old, families, music lovers, dancers and those who simply want to sit back and take in the ambience. Our traditional Arts and Crafts Fair will be held in the main hall from11am – 6 pm.
Many of the bands, choirs and entertainers performing at events during the nine days of the Festival will be showcasing local talents. The Woodford Festival has also invited school children to present their talents in a competition they are staging. The ‘Kinovan’, showing a continuous film illustrating life in Redbridge and, in particular, Woodford, will be operating in the car park outside the hall.
