West Essex Water sports

If you are thinking of living in Chigwell, Loughton or Woodford some West Essex watersports might be easier to access than you think. The Lee Valley offers a whole host of amazing water sports for the whole family. The Lee Valley is defined by the River Lee and the many stretches of water and flooded gravel pits across the whole area. These kinds of waterways add up to as many different activities on the water!

One you and your family might enjoy is White water rafting. For an unforgettable summer holiday experience why not book some whitewater action. The Lee Valley White Water Centre in the River Lee Country Park, is a unique destination and is easily accessible from London but much more easily accessed from Chigwell, Loughton and Woodford.

A Family Rafting Charter costs just £150 per raft, family rafts hold a maximum of 5 people, with a maximum 2 adults. But the experience is sure to turbo boost your family time as you and your loved ones take on the rapids of the Legacy Loop. The organisers say that there will be plenty of laughs, as well as a good soaking.

There are just three easy steps to the experience say the Lee Valley Watersports team. Step 1 - check in at reception and get your kit on (wetsuits, wet boots, helmets and buoyancy aids). Step 2 - say hello to the raft guide who'll be there with you every wave of the way and talk you through the important safety bits and basic elements of rafting. Step 3 - into the raft and paddle across the training lake to complete the activity assessment. Once you've completed these three simple steps it's time to hit the Legacy Loop rapids.

They advise allowing at least 3 hours for the experience. There are of course bars and cafes to enjoy after the experience so you can relax and refuel after the adrenaline experience and soak up the atmosphere of watersports so close to Chigwell, Loughton and Woodford.
