Watch out, Mother’s Day comes early this year

Mother's Day always falls on the fourth Sunday of Lent that means it is always exactly three weeks before Easter Sunday. But because Easter dates change each year so does Mothering Sunday, this year, Mother's Day will be with us on Sunday, 11th March.

The day offers a chance to celebrate mothers and the maternal bond. A day on which children traditionally give flowers to their mothers, make breakfast in bed for our mums and honour the hard work of motherhood.

If you want to honour your mum and take her out for a treat this Mother’s Day a spot of high tea can be a great idea. There are plenty of local options to go for, with T on the Green in Woodford Green and The Bluebell restaurant at the heart of Chigwell, offering a relaxed atmosphere with beautifully presented food delivered with first class service.
But for such a special occasion you might want to look a bit further afield to some of the outstanding local country houses. This year Copped Hall is planning to offer afternoon tea in celebration of Mothering Sunday, scrumptious homemade sandwiches, cakes and scones served with a pot of tea, the price also includes a glass of Prosecco or a non-alcoholic alternative.

Or what about a visit to Down Hall Hotel and Spa who offer Afternoon Tea at its finest in the historic splendour of our lounge or Ibbetsons Tea Lounge, with a treatment thrown in too? Treat your Chigwell, Loughton and Woodford mums to a great Mother’s Day treat this year.
