Even though it is still pretty chilly and damp out there in your Chigwell, Loughton or Woodford garden the birds are back and busy. Birds, Birds, Birds is an interactive exhibition displaying bird-inspired artwork by local artists together with eggs and taxidermy from the museum collection at The View, Rangers Road, Chingford, Greater London E4 7QH. It is up and running until Sunday 24 February 2019 from 10 am to 5 pm (closed on Mondays). The event is free and no booking required.
Alongside his exhibition is the opportunity for all the family to get creative and use the art materials provided to create their own bird-inspired artwork. These new works can also be shared with other visitors as part of the display.
To help you improve your bird inspired artwork there are some extra workshops on offer. First on Thursday 14th February 2019 between 1.30pm and 4.30pm there is - Multisensory birds, which is described as a listening and line drawing workshop for adults. It offers an arty exploration of the shape and sounds of birds with an opportunity to see and touch carved and stuffed birds from the museum collection. The session includes a range of line drawing activities including using markers and foil to design a low relief image of your chosen birds.
Then there is the Family half-term workshop that is called Drawing birds across the ages. It will take place on Wednesday 20th February 2019 between 1.30pm and 3.30pm. Grandparents, parents, carers and children can enjoy listening to and drawing birds together. They will inspire the artists using objects from the museum and handling collections and demonstrate some different techniques. And you can then take home your artwork to display in your Chigwell, Woodford or Loughton home or add it to the February art exhibition in The View.
