Don’t miss Loughton Art Trail

Loughton Art Trail runs from Saturday, May 12th until Saturday, June 2nd. Loughton Art Tail is a community arts event that offers lots of engagement with the visual arts and local artists. It also has lots of events for children and offers a host of art exhibitions. Most artworks are also for sale so it is a great opportunity to maybe find some unique artwork for your Chigwell, Loughton or Woodford home.

Loughton Art Trail 2018 is part of Loughton Festival and the Essex Summer of Art. Other groups supporting the Trail are Lifeworks Creative Arts Centre, Creative Art Class in Loughton, West Essex Art, Photography & Culture Group, Lopping Hall Gallery, Loughton Library, Epping Forest College, and Restore Community Centre. Loughton Art Trail is funded by the Big Lottery Fund. Local councillor, Cllr Stephen Pewsey said: "This is an opportunity for all of us in Loughton to enjoy the work of local artists and to join in as well, and get creative."

There are a whole host of people involved in making sure the trail runs smoothly, including town councillor Pewsey, Lifeworks co-ordinator Jenna Thorne, local artist and art teacher Ruth Dronsfield, local photographers Ruth Batten and John Price, Lopping Hall Gallery manager Diane Rhodes and many volunteers. On a day to day basis, the trail is run by volunteers and artists within the Loughton community who want to give local artists of all levels the opportunity to share their artwork with the community and bring the community together in celebrating the visual arts.

The 2017 Loughton Art Trail saw 56 artists exhibiting over 6 venues, with 6 events including a children's fun day in the High Road and an art trail walk, around 1000 visitors across all the venues and almost £1000 of art sold. Let’s hope this year’s Loughton Art Rail is just as successful.
