Chigwell School runs its cricket coaching course for all age groups and abilities. It is regularly held during the Easter holiday. The School as you expect has great sports ethics. Its school motto aut viam inveniam aut faciam (find a way or make a way). They say they want Chigwell students to develop a determined, independent spirit, taking responsibility for themselves, their relationships with others, and the world around us. Sport especially team sports are a great way to develop this spirit.
The Chigwell School is one of the good local schools that serve the Chigwell Loughton and Woodford areas. It was founded in 1629 by Samuel Harsnett, the son of a baker who became Vicar of St Mary’s Church, Chigwell, Vice-Chancellor of Cambridge University and then when on to become Archbishop of York. Not bad for a local boy of fairly humble beginnings.
In 1629, Chigwell had just 16 ‘poor scholars’ who were all boys. Today there are over 9 pupils with approximately equal numbers of boys and girls with: in Pre Prep (aged 4-7) the Junior School (aged 7-13)the Senior School (aged 13-18)and the Sixth Form (aged 16-18). Pupils are encouraged to be busy, challenged and pushed to do their very best, but there is also a supportive, caring and friendly atmosphere to the school.
The Chigwell School sits in a beautiful site covering 100 acres with excellent facilities with a highly dedicated staff. If you are making the move out of London for Secondary Schools Chigwell, Loughton and Woodford have a lot to offer families.
