Chigwell community spirit

There is loads of community spirit in Chigwell. Living in Chigwell, Loughton and Woodford offer all sorts of different community events and opportunities to volunteer. In November, Chigwell has been celebrating Make a Difference Day it is an opportunity to recognise local incredible volunteers. Revitalise in Chigwell are incredibly lucky to have lots of vibrant local volunteers.

Revitalise is a charity that creates holidays for disabled people and carers. Their guests are at the heart of what they do and each week they are joined by an army of volunteers to get the party started and keep it going. Revitalise is a national charity and has been providing respite care in a holiday setting for disabled people and carers for over 50 years.

It was founded in 1963 as the Winged Fellowship Trust (WFT). In 2004 WFT became Vitalise and in 2014 Vitalise became Revitalise. They currently run three accessible holiday centres one of which is in Chigwell in Essex. In the last year alone, volunteers donated around 3,500 weeks of their time to support guests at Jubilee Lodge in Chigwell, Essex. Whether the guests would like to go on one of the excursions, make the most of party nights, or if they’d simply prefer to spend time relaxing at the centre, volunteers can always be relied on to make every holiday memorable.

The charities mission is to enable disabled people in the UK to access essential breaks with care and provide inspirational opportunities for volunteers. For everything volunteers give, they will gain just as much in return. They’ll learn about themselves and to work in a team, and they’ll learn that everyone loves to have fun regardless of age or (dis)ability. If you want to get involved you can always become one of the Chigwell volunteers.
